Design & Build
Theme 31 uses four pure-silver conductor cores protected by a braided shield. Its internal structure comprises 96 individual strands in two different diameters, allowing Kondo to tune the cable’s electrical and sonic characteristics through the conductor geometry.
Silk winding surrounds the conductor assembly, providing support for the fine silver strands while forming part of Kondo’s established cable construction. The completed cable reflects the company’s experience with silver selection, processing, conductor direction and controlled ageing.
The standard Theme 31 interconnect is terminated with Kondo’s proprietary AN-Pn2 RCA connectors. Theme 31 Armcable employs the same four-core, 96-strand silver architecture with a straight five-pin DIN connector for compatible tonearms.
System Pairing
The Theme 31 RCA interconnect is intended for unbalanced analogue connections between source components, phono stages, preamplifiers and power amplifiers. It is offered in 0.8 and 1.6 metre lengths to suit different equipment layouts.
Theme 31 Armcable connects a tonearm equipped with a standard five-pin DIN output to a phono preamplifier or moving-coil step-up transformer. The output end can be specified with Kondo AN-Pn2 RCA plugs or XLR connectors.
Connector configuration should be selected according to the tonearm and receiving component. Choosing XLR termination does not necessarily create a balanced connection; balanced operation also depends on the cartridge wiring, tonearm grounding and input circuit of the connected phono equipment.
