Design & Build
The G-700i separates its amplification and power-supply sections into independent enclosures, reducing the effects of transformer vibration and magnetic leakage on the low-level audio circuitry. Its compact power supply is designed to sit alongside the main unit within a conventional equipment rack.
At the centre of the main chassis is Kondo’s proprietary 50-step attenuator. Selected MELF resistors are mounted to a high-quality rotary switch and enclosed in a copper case, supporting precise volume adjustment with low noise and high information retrieval.
Decoupling capacitors are positioned close to the amplification modules to minimize signal-loop length. Kondo’s custom transformers, chokes and electrolytic capacitors are joined by pure-silver foil capacitors, SSW silver wiring, silver-lead resistors and zirconia valve sockets.
System Pairing
Four RCA inputs and one XLR input accommodate a complete range of analogue source components. Both input types are electrically unbalanced, allowing the XLR connection to be used for connector compatibility rather than differential signal transmission.
Two RCA outputs and one unbalanced XLR output support connection to a power amplifier or more complex systems. With a 400-ohm output impedance and operation into loads above 20 kohms, the G-700i can be partnered with suitable valve or solid-state power amplifiers.
