Design & Build
The G-72i uses Kondo’s GL7 line-amplification module, the same fundamental module employed in the G-700i. Two 6072 dual triodes are connected in parallel within each channel, supporting stable operation, low noise and expressive musical dynamics.
Capacitor groups are distributed along the left- and right-channel circuits to shorten signal loops. Its redesigned heater supply operates the 6072 tubes at 6.3 volts and uses metal-can 2N2222A and 2N3055G transistors in a Darlington configuration.
Kondo pure-silver foil capacitors, silver-lead resistors, SSW internal wiring, silver-palladium-plated RCA connectors and zirconia valve sockets are installed within a copper main chassis. The gently curved front panel carries the aesthetic language of Kondo’s latest-generation amplifiers.
System Pairing
The G-72i offers three RCA inputs and two XLR inputs for connecting analogue source components. All five inputs are electrically unbalanced, so the XLR connections provide connector compatibility rather than true balanced operation.
RCA and XLR outputs allow connection to a broad range of power amplifiers. Both output connections are unbalanced, and Kondo specifies operation into an amplifier input impedance above 20 kohms.
