Design & Build

Melius develops the EL34 push-pull circuit used in Kondo’s Overture integrated amplifier into a dedicated stereo power amplifier. Component values and operating currents are optimized to combine fine detail with sufficient drive for contemporary loudspeakers.

The first and driver stages are directly coupled, while newly developed pure-silver-foil capacitors connect the driver and output stages. The constant-current bias circuit prevents the music signal from passing through the bias-adjustment control, maintaining a cleaner signal path.

Internal wiring is arranged manually for the shortest practical routes. SSW silk-insulated silver wire carries unshielded signals, while Kondo Ls-41 is used where shielding is required.

System Pairing

With 32 watts per channel and outputs for 4- and 8-ohm loudspeakers, Melius is more broadly compatible than many lower-powered triode amplifiers. It pairs naturally with Kondo line preamplifiers and can also be used with other high-quality valve or solid-state preamplifiers.

RCA and XLR inputs are provided, although both operate as unbalanced connections.
