Design & Build

The Kagura2i represents the fullest expression of Kondo’s accumulated knowledge in directly heated triode amplification. Its signal path begins with a 12AU7 input stage, followed by twin 6SN7 amplification tubes and two additional 6SN7 cathode followers that provide the current required to drive a pair of 211 output tubes.

The voltage-amplification section is modularized to shorten signal paths and position decoupling capacitors close to each circuit stage. The 211 output tubes are located near the driver circuitry, minimizing wiring length throughout the amplification chain.

Its pure-silver-wound output transformer supports 4-, 8- and 16-ohm loudspeakers, with two output impedances configured at the factory.

Power Supply

Three power transformers and four newly developed cut-core choke coils create three independent power-supply systems operating at four voltage levels. High-voltage oil capacitors and dedicated heater supplies provide the stable foundation required by the 211 output stage.

The main and heater power supplies use separate AC inlets, so two ACz-AVOCADO power cords are supplied with each monoblock.

System Pairing

Kagura2i is intended for the highest-resolution reference systems. Its 50-watt output provides considerably greater loudspeaker compatibility than lower-powered single-ended amplifiers while retaining the immediacy and tonal character associated with the 211 triode.

Both RCA and XLR connections are electrically unbalanced. The XLR input is provided for connection convenience and uses pin 2 as hot.
